How To Swaddle A Baby

Posted by Crab and The Fox on

I know a lot of people are intimidated by swaddling. Well I was anyway!

So here is a quick step guide on to how to swaddle a baby.

Lay out the swaddle

Lay your square swaddle blanket out flat in a diamond position (one corner pointing upwards). Fold the corner which is pointing upwards down around 5-7 inches and place your baby in the centre of the swaddle blanket ensuring their neck is lined up with the fold.

Swaddle Step 1

Up and Over

Starting with the corner on your left, bring this over your baby's body and tuck it behind your little one. Make sure that the swaddle blanket is not too tight over your baby's hips and knees and that their legs are in a frog position inside the swaddle.

Swaddle Step 2

Tuck Tuck Tuck

Take the bottom corner and pull this up over your baby's left shoulder and tuck behind your little one's back. The weight of your baby should keep the swaddle blanket in place while you're finishing up.

Swaddle step 3

Take the last corner across and all the way around behind your baby, and tuck the end of the blanket into the fold on the front.

Swaddle step 4

And you have one cosy swaddled baby! Babies just love swaddling!

Make sure you always follow the guidelines for swaddling and choose breathable safe swaddle blankets like those designed by Modern Burlap.
